Church of Scientology's Charity Coalition to Highlight Efforts to Eliminate Human Traffic

CLEARWATER, Fla. - July 27, 2016 - PRLog -- On the 17^th of August, the Church of Scientology Flag Service Organization will host 140 members of non-profit organizations in the historic Fort Harrison for the bi-monthly Charity Coalition Luncheon.

The Florida Coalition Against Human Trafficking (FCAHT) will be the spotlight charity.

Founded in 2004, FCAHT provides assistance to the victims of human trafficking, as well as giving educational seminars to help the general public spot signs of human trafficking.

"Florida is third in the United States in terms of human trafficking," said Dylan Pires, Community Affairs Officer for the Church of Scientology and chairman of the Coalition. "The Tampa Bay area has a high rate of human trafficking – victims of which bring with them a whole host of issues, such as drug addiction, malnutrition and post traumatic stress. By having FCAHT featured, it will provide our other partnership charities the opportunity to see how they can use their own resources to help."

On average, representatives from 40 different charities attend the luncheons, offering programs that tackle homelessness, illiteracy, drug addiction and environmental issues. Included in the program, which starts at 11:30am, is time to network and collaborate on projects.

For the educational portion of the luncheon, St. Pete Clearwater Film Commissioner Tony Armer will present a short workshop on utilizing YouTube and other digital media formats to promote one's non-profit. Visit St. Pete/Clearwater currently offers free classes in creating content for YouTube, which Mr. Armer will also discuss.

"The Charity Coalition luncheons began in 2014 to bring like-minded groups together," continued Mr. Pires. "Our Church's founder, Mr. L. Ron Hubbard, wrote that 'A community that pulls together can make a better society for all,' which is what this luncheon is all about."

Since 2014, 178 different non-profit organizations from the Tampa Bay area have participated in the Charity Coalition.
