TRENTON, N.J. - July 27, 2016 - PRLog -- This weekend, Trenton native Richie Cole brings his "Alto Madness" to the Levitt AMP Trenton Music Series (http://concerts.levittamp.org/Trenton) stage on the Statehouse Capital Green. Cole headlines with a LIVE performance on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 7:30 pm, which is hosted by The Trenton Downtown Association (TDA) (http://www.destinationtrenton.com/) ,a non-profit organization that manages the Special Improvement District in downtown Trenton (NJ). New Jersey's own, The Danny Petroni Blue Project serves as the opening act.

Cole (http://www.richiecole.com/), who has played with notable musicians such as Freddie Hubbard, Sonny Stitt, Art Pepper and Tom Waits, performs with his Alto Madness Orchestra which was assembled in the early 90's and its continuing popularity is proof of its uniqueness, "The idea of the orchestra is the concept and sound of an eighteen-piece big band using only seven instruments, four of which are horns. Not only does this have the big band ensemble sound, it also allows us plenty of room for improvisation as if we were in a quartet setting," says Cole.

Tom Gilmour, executive director of The Trenton Downtown Association says this concerts series are more than just entertainment. "The Levitt AMP Trenton Music Series supports our mission to encourage residents from all over the Capital Region to bring their families downtown on one or all 10 Saturday evenings for free and safe musical entertainment in the temperate, relaxing setting of the historic Capital Green under the stars. You couldn't pick a more practical downtown location for this event."

The Levitt AMP Trenton Music Series, which takes place on the Capital Green located at 201 Barrack Street in downtown Trenton, is sponsored in part by the Mortimer & Mimi Levitt Foundation, a private family foundation that empowers communities to transform neglected public spaces into thriving destinations through the power of free, live music. The TDA was selected to receive a $25,000 grant to hold 10 free, family-friendly concerts to the public from July 23 – September 24, 2016 each beginning at 7:30 pm. Trenton-based NJM Insurance Group is also a presenting sponsor.

"I commend the Trenton Downtown Association for helping to bring back the Levitt AMP Trenton Music Series to our historic city," said Trenton Mayor Eric E. Jackson. "Providing high-quality entertainment for residents and visitors helps boost our local economy and strengthens our reputation as a compelling destination to experience history, the arts, culture, and music. I invite music lovers to join us for the concert series and to patronize our restaurants and other small businesses."

These free concerts are open to the public and everyone is invited to picnic and bring their own blankets and lawn chairs to the concerts to sit with their families to enjoy the music. Visit http://levittamp.org/trenton for a full schedule of concerts, guidelines, directions and information on free parking. If there is inclement weather such as rain, the concert will still take place, but will be moved indoors.  Please check the TDA's web site: www.DestinationTrenton.com for the new location and other possible changes.
