Speranzo Joins USO-Metro Board
As a U.S. Air Force veteran, Speranzo understands the critical role that the USO plays in the lives of the military community, and he has been an active USO volunteer for more than 15 years. Speranzo has a wealth of professional experience in the public sector, which he will draw upon to help the USO achieve its goals. As a member of the board of directors, he will focus on marketing and fundraising.
Currently, Speranzo is responsible for ensuring compliance and driving the vision, strategy, and profitability for Avnet Government Solutions, a wholly owned subsidiary of Avnet, Inc. that specializes in technology solutions for the federal, state, local and education markets. He has also held positions with Split Rock and Lockheed Martin.
"We're extremely proud and excited to welcome Milo Speranzo to the USO-Metro family," said Elaine Rogers, CEO and President of USO-Metro. "Our board members are absolutely vital to ensuring that we can meet the needs of our nation's brave service men and women and the family members who stand beside them."
Since 1941, the USO has been boosting morale and connecting America's troops to the things they love –family, home and country. USO-Metro supports and fulfills the needs of local active duty military members and their families, who live, work and travel throughout Northern Virginia, Washington, D.C. and Maryland. USO-Metro receives no financial assistance from the federal government and relies on the generosity of the American people and business communities to fund its myriad of programs. Board members play a critical role in ensuring that USO-Metro can continue its tradition of boosting the morale of the nation's service members and their families.
"My first deployment to the Middle East was during the holiday season, and the USO put on a fantastic show that helped me and my team forget about being so far away from home for a couple of days," said Speranzo. "I am honored to be able to give back to this remarkable organization that helped me during my time in the service and continues to boost the morale of military personnel around the world. My appointment to the board is also a great example of how Avnet and its employees continue to give back to the communities we serve, and I'm looking forward to working with the USO to keep our military personnel connected to their country and those they protect."
