Sterlite Copper Conducts Onsite Emergency Night Mockdrill

THOOTHUKKUDI, India - July 23, 2016 - PRLog -- Sterlite Copper organized Onsite Emergency Night Mockdrill in High Speed Diesel (HSD) Storage Area in the industry on 21.07.2016.

Contingency involving odd hour's electric fire and oil spillage emergency situation was simulated and the efficacy of the shop floor employees, fire crew, fire fighting equipment and skill of the emergency response teams was demonstrated. After receiving the emergency call from HSD storage area field operator, Sterlite Copper Fire Service Crew and Medical Team reacted quickly for rescue operation in HSD storage oil transfer pump area. For additional safety requirements SIPCOT Fire Service Crew also has been called to mitigate the fire.

Mr Appavu Samraj, Joint Director of Industrial Safety and Health, Thoothukudi and Mr Thavamani, District Fire Officer (Additional In charge), Thoothukudi presided over the onsite emergency night mockdrill and appreciated the entire team to bring the situation under control in short span of time.

Sterlite Copper Officials Mr M Kumaravendhan, General Manager, Mr Sandeep Acharya, Chief Safety Officer and Emergency Preparedness and Response Team were present during the mockdrill. The Safety Officers from DCW, SPIC, Super Gas, BPCL, NLC & VV Titanium participated as special observers of emergency night mockdrill.
