Philip Remington Dunn Brings Awareness to the Cruelty of Over Incarceration in When Darkness Reigns
By: Philip Remington Dunn
Mr. Dunn is now embarking on another journey, as he gears up to promote his new book When Darkness Reigns. This page turning story follows Tony Estrada and how he somehow managed to avoid the bloody gang culture of his neighborhood. Never arrested, at eighteen he enlisted in the Army on a three-year stint. Honorably discharged, he came home. He hadn't been there a month before his arrest, the night that changed his life forever. A veteran turned prisoner-serving life; Estrada was convicted of murder and plunged into the dark world of the Mexican Mafia, serving time in the meanest prison in California. This is a story of honor defeating corruption, of redemption conquering despair, and truth overwhelming deceit.
When asked about how he feels about the release of this book, Mr. Dunn said, "It has taken me fifteen years to get this story right, but it has been worth it. Only now are we as a people beginning to grapple with the cruelty of over incarceration, the gang culture it has created, and the reality of the innocent being convicted and sent to prison for life. This book is about 'justice for all' and what it takes to achieve it."
