Hawai'i International Music Festival Announces Inaugural Season

HONOLULU - July 21, 2016 - PRLog -- HAWAI'I INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL announces their inaugural season, "Thrill of the Senses", from August 8 through August 14, 2016. Founded by Internationally Acclaimed Virtuoso Violinist ERIC SILBERGER and Metropolitan Opera Soprano AMY SHOREMOUNT-OBRA, the festival will include classical music concerts and appearances on three islands: Oahu, The Big Island of Hawai'i, and Maui.

Artistic Program Director and Festival Photographer, CARLIN MA, states, "Hawai'i International Music Festival will bring together world-class music, coffee, visual arts and Hawaiian culture. Each event will be a collaboration across different disciplines, exploring how to listen deeper with all of our senses and discover a sense of wonder. Our main goal is to build artistic and educational partnerships with the community as we present music and art in a unique light that imprints an unforgettable experience."

The Festival kicks off on Monday, August 8, 2016 at HAWAI'I VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK where Co-Founder and Violinist ERIC SILBERGER, who recently made international press for playing inside of Icelandic Volcano Thrihnukagigur, will play at various locations around the park in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park and the U.S. National Park Service. At 7pm, he will present a free concert of solo violin music at Volcano House with the Kilauea Caldera and the Halema'uma'u Crater as his backdrop. The concert will include the world premiere of a composition dedicated to the anniversary of the park.

On Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 7pm, the festival continues at the NEAL S. BLAISDELL CENTER CONCERT HALL in Honolulu with a concert of classical solo, chamber and vocal music featuring Metropolitan Opera Soprano AMY SHOREMOUNT-OBRA, Tchaikovsky Prize Winning Violinist ERIC SILBERGER, Louisiana Philharmonic Assistant Principal Cellist DANIEL LELCHUK, and Young Artist Soprano MIKAYLA SAGER. Special guests at this event include internationally acclaimed Canadian Pianist IAN PARKER, who has appeared as soloist with the Hawai'i Symphony Orchestra and world renowned Taiko Artist KENNY ENDO who is one of the leading artists in contemporary Taiko and percussion. RUSTY'S HAWAIIAN, one of the country's top award-winning coffee estates, will honor the Festival's Inaugural Season with a limited edition Hawaiian coffee. One of the world's foremost experts on chocolate, WILL LYDGATE of STEELGRASS FARM is making chocolate available for the first 500 audience members. Pokémon GO lures will be placed around the Blaisdell Center before the concert and during intermission. Players of the game are invited to come early to catch Pokémon prior to experiencing fantastic chocolate and music. The festival moves to the Big Island on August 13, 2016 at 6pm and will present a concert in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the KA'U COFFEE Region at PAHALA PLANTATION HOUSE on the Big Island. The concert will help benefit HAWAI'I PUBLIC RADIO's efforts to bring a stronger and more reliable signal to this community and the entire state. The festival concludes in Maui on August 14, 2016 at 7:30pm, at the MAUI ARTS & CULTURAL CENTER's McCoy Studio Theater. The festival will also include several musical outreach events. Two free master classes will be presented at the NEAL S. BLAISDELL CENTER CONCERT HALL on Wednesday July 10th from 2-5pm, which will feature local pianists and classical singers. The Artists of Hawai'i International Music Festival will also present a special concert for the Service Men and Women at JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM and an in-school performance on the Big Island.
