OCONOMOWOC, Wis. - Sept. 12, 2016 - PRLog -- On Saturday October 1, 2016 Oconomowoc Youth Football will hold its second annual "Touchdowns For A Cure" event to raise funds for the Rock River Cancer Research Foundation which support breast cancer research programs such as new treatment options, diagnosis and critical lab research.

The natural grass field at Ski Slide Park will feature a pink theme at the 50 yard line, all the yard numbers, and the end zones.   In addition, all Bandits players will be wearing pink socks and all Bandits coaches will be joining many of the Bandits fans in wearing pink "Touchdowns For A Cure" tee-shirts.

All nine 2016 Bandits teams will be playing at home at Ski Slide Park with the first kickoff between 5 Bandits Gold and West Bend East at 8:00am.   The day concludes with an 8th grade tripleheader at 5:00pm (8 Bandits Purple vs. Hartford),6:30pm ( 8 Bandits Black vs. Wauwatosa East), and the finale of the day between 8 Bandits Gold and West Bend East at 8:00pm.

The day will feature special halftime performances from 5678 Dance! Studio of Oconomowoc for the 5:00pm and 6:30pm games.  5678 Dance! is partnering with OYF to offer classes in advance to all 2016 4th - 9th graders with the opportunity to be a part of the halftime performances.

In addition, there will be several special guests throughout the day - those touched by cancer, Bandits alumni honorary captains, and performers for the national anthem fot the final three games.

As they did in 2015, the Rock River HOG Chapter #3276 will form a motorcycle honor guard to create a tunnel for our players and those from Hartford, Wauwatosa East and West Bend East to run through.  We invite ALL current Bandits, Orioles, Trojans, and Suns players on the field to help form the tunnel and be part of a very special experience.

At halftime of the final game of the day, the OYF Board of Directors will present a check to Monte Whiteaker, Director, Rock River H.O.G. Chapter #3276 to be given to the Rock River Cancer Research Center.  This check is a result of funds raised from the following activities:
* All sales of the Touchdowns For a Cure tee-shirt
* 50/50 raffles held during each of the eight games
* A donation of $20.00 from Oconomowoc Youth Football for each Bandits touchdown scored during the nine games
* Raffle prizes offered throughout the day sponsored by our 2016 sponsors as well as Harley-Davidson.

"October 1 will be a highlight of the 2016 Bandits season as we give back to continue the fight against cancer" said Gary Wipperman, OYF President.  "Cancer has affected all of us either directly or through a loved one.   The generosity of our fans and those of our guests was amazing last year and we know it will be again this year.  We are so thankful to all of our special guests, Monte Whiteaker and the Rock River HOG Chapter #3276, and Michelle Heimerl and  5678 Dance!  for their generous gift of their time and talents.  This day will be one our players, coaches, and families will remember for many years to come."

"We are honored and looking forward to participating in the 2nd annual Touchdowns for A Cure event to raise money for the "Rock River Cancer Research Foundation" said Monte Whiteaker, Director of the Rock River HOG Chapter #3276.  "This event along with our annual "Ridin' To A Cure"  is all about raising money to find a cure for Breast Cancer. Last year's event was a phenomenal success and we hope to make this year even better.  Being able to partner with Oconomowoc Youth Football is truly a rewarding and fun experience.  And what better way to spend a night then rooting on your favorite youth football team?"
