NEW ORLEANS - July 18, 2016 - PRLog -- The 10th International Symposium for Hyperbaric Medicine Conference will be hosting for the first time in downtown New Orleans, LA.  This biennial three-day conference and expo is taking place the weekend of September 9-11th, and is organized by the International Hyperbaric Medical Foundation (IHMF).  Excitement is heating up as this prestigious professional medical event is now just weeks away.    This year's theme is Deploying Hyperbaric Medicine and Adjunctive Therapies into Health Care System:  Combining Public Policy and Clinical Outcomes.

Eminent speakers have been handpicked for their particular expertise and research in areas of Wound Care, Wound Management & Burns, Brain Injury, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Cancer, Chronic Infectious Diseases, Lyme disease, Heavy Metal Poisoning, Environmental Medicine, Neuro-Rehabilitation, and much more.   The majority of speakers are US based, with one exception – Dr. Mal Hooper who will be traveling from Australia.

President of the IHMF, Edward Fogarty, M.D., excited about this year's speaker roster, commented, "Every effort has been made to make sure that our speakers will be covering a broad spectrum of topics relating to hyperbaric medicine therapy, both on and off label.   New science and research is key so that doctors attending can apply the latest research into their practice to improve the wellbeing of their patients, many of whom have critical conditions.  We will also be updating our attendees on new regulations and safety relating to HBOT".

Paul Harch, M.D., who is the Curriculum Director for the conference, as well as the keynote for the event, will kick off the conference with his latest research on the 15 HBOT Indications: Insights on dosing, pathophysiology, and the implications for traumatic brain injury.

Other highlights on day one will include the presentation from Paul Anderson, N.M.D. who will be discussing Adjunctive Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in the Treatment of Cancer: From fear to Current Research Outcomes and Protocols in Oncology.

On day two, the conference will be focusing on Neuroscience and Rehabilitation in HBOT.   During day two, delegates will hear Dr. Harch discussing HBOT in Acute Stroke: A matter of dose, timing, and type of stroke.   Other highlights of the day will include President of the IHMF, Edward Fogarty, M.D., who will be presenting on What SPECT Tells Us about Physiology of Brain Insults.

On the final day, physicians will be hearing from Mal Hooper, D.C. on Hyperbaric Oxygen fosters Neuroplasticity for Disc Related Injuries and Failed Back Surgical Syndrome.  Also on day three will be Robert Mozayeni, M.D. who will discuss a New Look at Neurovascular and Rheumatic Diseases: Borrelia, Bartonella, & Parasitic Infections and HBOT.

As in previous years, there will be poster presentations and three submissions will be invited by the IHMF education committee to present in the main conference.  There are slots available, so anyone who has been involved in research relating to HBOT, please send in your completed application form as soon as possible, via the event website. http://www.hbot2016.com/poster_submission_guide.html

For the general public who wish to obtain a greater understanding of hyperbaric medicine therapy from an entry level, can attend a special Public and Patriot Day, taking place on Saturday, September 10th, in the same hotel, but in a separate area to the main conference.   Although this is a free event, attendees are requested to RSVP, to guarantee entrance to this very popular one-day public seminar.  The agenda will include such conditions as cancer, autism, cerebral palsy, and how hyperbarics can play its part in treatments. During the afternoon, attention will turn to neurological disorders in sports injuries, concussions, TBI and PTSD. The focus will move to treating Veterans with many key presenters. In the evening, there will be a Think Tank for "Designing a Patriot Clinic in your Community".

Space is filling up fast for the conference; any physician wishing to register should go online to www.hbot2016.com; any patient or carer wishing to attend the Public Day event should email IHMF President, Dr. Fogarty to reserve a place at tfmd@hbot2016.com.
