Former Youth Caregiver: The First Lady of Florida Atlantic University to Be Honored

Elected officials, business, healthcare, education and religious leaders will join together to celebrate the opening of school in Palm Beach County, one of the featured events of Boca Festival Days and one community constituents won't want to miss!

BOCA RATON, Fla. - July 15, 2016 - PRLog -- What do you get when you combine the American Association of Caregiving Youth (AACY) with Allegiance Home Health and Rehab companies?  You get an incredible synergistic partnership for the Boca Raton Chamber's Boca Festival Days.

The program will be highlighted by a special award to Carolyn Boltin-Kelly. Over the past nearly two decades, Carolyn Boltin-Kelly has served in a succession of leadership roles at the local, state and federal levels in South Carolina. Mrs. Kelly has a bachelor's degree in marine science and a master's degree in natural resource economics. She's been named one of Clemson University's most influential women graduates. At Florida Atlantic University, she's engaged in activities that include building relationships with partners such as elected officials, donors and other friends of the University. She enjoys traveling, cultural events and culinary activities – and, most of all, spending time with her family, which, in addition to her husband John, includes daughters Carly and Stella.

What her resume doesn't reflect is that Carolyn overcame many challenges as a youth caregiver for her mom as she battled cancer. The AACY team is grateful that she has had the courage to share her story to help raise awareness on behalf of today's caregiving youth.

Allegiance has been named HomeCare Elite and Top 500 Agency since it's eligibility in 2009 and serves clients from Boca Raton to Sebastian as it works to help those in their care 24/7 regain and maintain their independence at home.  Rosie Inguanzo-Martin is the President and CEO and is also the newest member of the AACY Board.

The American Association of Caregiving Youth (AACY) is a Florida based 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation that began serving the greater Boca Raton community in 1998. Today AACY is the only organization of its kind in the United States solely dedicated to addressing the issues surrounding the silent, vulnerable and hidden population, conservatively estimated to exceed 1.4 million children, who provide care for ill, injured, elderly or disabled family members.  Its mission is to increase awareness and provide support services for youth caregivers and their families by connecting them with healthcare, education and community resources.  AACY's model program, the Caregiving Youth Project (CYP), works in partnership with The School District of Palm Beach County.  Dr. Connie Siskowski, the organization's founder was a 2012 CNN Top Ten Hero.
