YELP Suppressed Invisco Whole House Fan Company 5-Star Review

YELP has a software algorithm that examines every review. It has put a 5-star review from a well-known Invisco customer in Indianapolis and a 4-star review from a good customer in Temecula in the YELP "Not Recommended" area, nearly invisible on their site.
TEMECULA, Calif. - July 15, 2016 - PRLog -- Kurt Shafer, founder and inventor at Invisco Whole House Fan Company, was recently shocked to find that there are two excellent reviews posted this year on Yelp - neither of which is featured with other reviews. They are in what Yelp calls "Not Recommended" reviews. Mr. Shafer called Yelp to ask them why. They explained that their software does that automatically and that no one in the company can change it.

Here are the reviews that are suppressed:

John S., Temecula, CA 6/16/2015:

"I can say that I had a good experience with Kurt. His installer was friendly. They installed the fan I agreed to and even after I had an issue, they came back and worked on it. It has been working good now for two years since I have been in Temecula. The beginning of each summer Kurt would email me and ask how it's going and if he needs to come back out. I don't know about these other negative reviews, but my fan is still working nice."

Paul P., Indianapolis, IN 3/12/2016:

"We live in Indiana, and I found out about Kurt on the Internet. I talked with Kurt about what we were looking for and he suggested what we have now. We have a two-story house with poor ventilation and the fans helped greatly with this problem. We use the fans in the Spring, summer and fall. The fans have cut down our air conditioner use greatly. Kurt contacted a local company to install the fans. We got the fans in a timely fashion. We got the fans almost three years ago, and we have been very happy with them."

Here is what Wikipedia has to say about Yelp:

"Yelp has a proprietary algorithm that attempts to evaluate whether a review is authentic and filters out reviews that it believes are not based on a patron's actual personal experiences, as required by the site's Terms of Use. Filtered reviews are moved into a special area and not counted towards the business' star-rating. The filter sometimes filters legitimate reviews, leading to complaints from business owners. Yelp has also been criticized for not disclosing how the filter works, which it says would reveal information on how to out-smart it."

Mr. Shafer has concluded that he cannot get any help from Yelp so he decided to write this press release. He is also posting this information on his web site http://www.invisco.com.
