LPU provided 100% Scholarship to 21 Spinal Cord Injury affected Persons

Total 21 students join under this initiative and their spouses & children will also get 50% scholarship to study at LPU

JALANDHAR, India - July 14, 2016 - PRLog -- Lovely Professional University has framed a 'Free Education' policy to ease the financial burden that so often comes along on an individual with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI).  From this session (2016-17) onwards, LPU has come forward to provide 100% scholarship to students affected with spinal cord injuries. In first instance, 7 such students have already joined LPU in the month of June and in second phase 10 students have taken admission today. They were invited at the campus and awarded scholarships by the Chief Guest of the occasion, ACP of Jalandhar Division Ms Deepika Singh and LPU Senior Dean Mr Lovi Raj Gupta.  ACP Ms Deepika Singh addressed the SCI affected students as real heroes and great source of inspiration for others. She said: "I praise LPU for taking a noble initiative which is sure to be followed by others in future and if these people need any help from us we are always ready to support them by giving extra time." On this occasion SCIA President Parvinder Sonu and Vice President Davinder Singh were also present.

SCI affected students will not only have total fee waiver but free hostel accommodation in dormitory. In addition, their spouses & children can also avail 50% scholarship at LPU. Ten students who have got admission at LPU in second phase are Ramandeep Singh from Ferozpur who has taken admission in MSc (Design- Film & TV Production); Eishan Aggarwal in MCA; Imran Qureshi in Diploma in film making; Princy Seth in MSc (Nutrition & Dietetics); Gurvinder Singh in BSc Physics; Manpreet Singh in MTech; Sumit Thakur in BA (Journalism and Mass Communication); Gajendra Negi in BA; Dharamvir Singh and Kulwant Singh. On this occasion, a physiotherapy camp was also organized at University Hospital where 20+ people were provided treatment.

Applauding the spirit of affected students who want to pursue education at LPU, Executive Dean Mr Lovi Raj Gupta informed: "Our University extends the largest private scholarship scheme to students on various parameters so that they may not be devoid of quality education in any respect.  LPU wants that SCI affected students must also think big and have a proud existence in the society. All healthy people should learn from them how to live with optimism in a challenging life."

One of the aspiring student Princy Seth from Kanpur informed that she was hit by her fiancee just ten days before her marriage on denying dowry. But she didn't loose heart and thought to pursue higher education so that she would not be dependent on others and adopt her career after completion of Master degree in MSc (Nutrition & Dietetics) at LPU. Another student Imran Qureshi hailing from Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh has worked along Akshay Kumar in Holiday film and is affected with Multiple Sclerosis in which he lost his eyes sight in 2007 but recovered after 2 years and later this disease affected his legs also. Now with buoyant courage he has taken admission in Diploma in film making at LPU and after completion of this course will train the students in making film projects.
