LISLE, Ill. - July 13, 2016 - PRLog -- Rosie & The Rivets bring an energetic Retro Rock and Roll Show to the Morton Arboretum's Wednesdays, Woods and Wine series July 20, 5:30 to 8:00 PM.

The show is the brain child of Christine Murphy (aka Rosie), and Frank Canino. Canino is a self-taught musician who absorbed himself in his parents' record collection listening to Elvis, Buddy Holly and The Beatles. He began mimicking his idols and performing talent shows. As a teen, he became proficient on guitar, drums and piano. He went pro at age 19 when he was cast as John Lennon in a Beatles tribute show. By 21 he was performing regularly on the Las Vegas strip. He's worked for Legends in Concert (the world's best and longest running tribute variety show) performing in Atlantic City NJ, Myrtle Beach SC, and Branson MO. He has also played the parts of Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly.

Christine Murphy, although new to rock n roll, is no stranger to the stage. As a professional actress she has performed in countless theater productions throughout the Chicagoland area and on television. As a print model she has been cast most often for retro shoots, perhaps preparing her for the role of "Rosie." Murphy has always had an affection for rockabilly music and has wanted to sing in a retro inspired band, prompting her to form Rosie and the Rivets. Her unlimited vocal range allows her to cover everything from gritty rock 'n' roll and raw soul to sentimental ballads with ease.

"We added Dann Morr on bass and vocals and Sam Barsi on drums to complete the band," says Canino. Morr's earliest musical memories are listening to re-broadcasts of "Your Hit Parade" and Dick Biondi's "Friday Night 50s Party." At age 11 he convinced his parents to let him buy a bass guitar and soon had his first paying gig. Morr, a native of Naperville, has been a bassist and backing vocalist for dozens of Chicago artists as well as a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist in his own projects. When he's not being a Rivet, he performs with his power-pop group The Dashing Bastard Sideshow.

Barsi is one of the most ambitious players and teachers in Chicagoland. Audience members rave about his dynamic way of playing the drums that "lights the band and audience on fire". Sam is jazz trained and steeped in all eras of rock music. He can be caught listening to a variety of music ranging from Louis Armstrong to Dave Grohl. In addition to drums Sam plays trumpet, baritone, trombone, and guitar. When Sam is not being a Rivet he is busy teaching one of his 40 private students or making videos for his YouTube channel.

Rosie and the Rivets have been enthusiastically received at festivals, clubs, casinos, and car shows around the Midwest. Part of the fun of their stage show are the vintage clothes along with vintage guitars, drums, and even microphones that assure a truly authentic retro experience both visually and musically! Ticket sales for the show at the Arboretum's Arbor Court begin at 5:00 PM and gates open at 5:30. Tickets for this 21-and-over event are $10 for members and $15 for non-members and include a selection from the Arboretum's beverage menu. Morton Arboretum is located at 4100 Illinois 53, Lisle, IL 60532.

"If you miss us at the Arboretum, or you just want more Rosie and the Rivets fun, you can also catch us at Miss Kitty's Saloon (634 East Ogden) in Naperville on Friday, June 22," Murphy says.

Rosie and the Rivets perform all around the Chicago area as well as Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan and Iowa. For complete schedule, pictures and more about the band, visit http://www.rosieandtherivets.com.
