Teacher of the Year Awarded to Mrs. Penny Gallagher, Hudson Falls Central School

BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. - July 13, 2016 - PRLog -- Every week during the school year, TCT Federal Credit Union salutes local educators for their outstanding efforts. Out of the 40 weekly winners in the 2015-2016 school year, one teacher; Mrs. Penny Gallagher has been selected Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Gallagher is a Special Education Teacher and Career Pathways Coordinator at the Hudson Falls High School.

Mrs. Gallagher was chosen as Teacher of the Year in part because of the letter one of her students wrote when he nominated her for Teacher of the Week, which she was awarded the week of May 9, 2016. In it, he talked about how Mrs. Gallagher taught him how to live independently. Contest sponsors were also impressed with Mrs. Gallagher when they saw the work she did in the classroom when they came to deliver her first award.Mrs. Gallagher does a great job of not only helping her students with their work in class, but she also teaches real world lessons that they will use long after high school.

The Teacher of the Week is nominated by a fellow school community member who wants to acknowledge their dedication to students and enthusiasm for learning. All school employees including teachers, aids, assistants, administration staff, janitors, nurses, bus drivers, and more are eligible to receive the award. Nominations are kept on file throughout the school year and one recipient is drawn each Monday morning and announced on-air.
