Amazing firstt mural art village in Vietnam

HANOI, Viet Nam - July 13, 2016 - PRLog -- For the first time, there appeared a mural art village in Vietnam making any travelers visiting the country greatly excited. Tourists must be familiar with the name of Italy, England, Penang as destinations of fabulous street art with various alive, unique and meaningful masterpieces. If you ever once wished to get there but had none of chances, here now right in the centre of Vietnam, there is unique mural village bearing deep ethnic culture which is not inferior to any places.

In early June, a mural art village was newly inaugurated in Trung Thanh Village, Tam Thanh Commune, Tam Ky, Quang Ngai with 120 paintings out of 100 household walls of people in poverty in the coastal fishing village, all the paintings are carrying a beauty that makes visitors surprised and amused.

This is the project "Community Arts Exchange Korea – Vietnam" as part of the Korea Foundation Community Art Exchange Programme held by the Korea Foundation and the UN-Habitat Vietnam. The project was completed in more than 20 launch date within the participating of dozens of volunteers from Korea performed. The project has covered the village with a new coat, aims to embellish the local living environment and bring art to the public.

Under the project, 11 artists and volunteers from the Republic of Korea (RoK) and many Vietnamese students have gave the walls of about 100 houses a new face. Content of those paintings are diverse and plentiful. There may be images of plain labors, or innocent playing children… Artists had reflected the daily life of people in fishing village through each painting with the most authenticity and purest view. There are also works reflecting the culture exchanges, solidarity and friendship between two countries. With bright, youthful colors, the creators had put on the poor fishing village with new fancy look.

According to Lee Hyuk, Rok Ambassador to Vietnam, the project is expected to boost local tourism development by delivering visitors with art and cultural space.

The project had brought great excitement to the locals, and even many of them volunteered to help. From the entrance of the village, the community looks livelier with pictures of genies, flowers, and daily activities with bright, colorful arts created by dedicated and enthusiastic artists.

Amongst Korean artists participated in this project, Oh Ye Seul, a 25-year-old-artist, is a free artist has been joined various mural village projects through drawing arts or making videos. Since hearing about the project "Community Arts Exchange Korean-Vietnam", she immediately registered to go to Vietnam. Although this is the first visit of Ye Seul in Vietnam, the land has impressed her with beautiful scenery and friendly locals. As the weather in Trung Thanh is so hot, she decided to draw snow, Olaf-a character in famous Disney movie "Frozen", hoping to bring locals with something happy and cool.

Many houses were chosen to wear new coat of paintings, and many portraits of the lords had been painted right outside of the house. Tai, a local in Trung Thanh Village, said: "Everyone has been excited since the artists came to our village. The wall of my house had been blackened with mould but now it has been transformed into a fishing picture in just in one morning. I'm really happy, now I look it all the time. Each house has different picture. They're all pretty. The village looks very different from before." The project follows the model of several mural villages in South Korea.

Speech by Park Kyoung Chul, representative of the Korea Foundation in Vietnam, suggests that via this project, they wanted to share ideas, experiences, and expertise to find ways of implementing and developing community art in two countries. They also hope that the project would raise people's awareness, responsibility and pride about their hometown.

Nguyen Thanh Binh, chairman of Tam Thanh Commune, said the projects boosted the mood of the villagers greatly and he hoped they could attract more tourists in the future.

"Tam Thanh Commune receives lots of tourists each year so we hope the art will encourage them to stay longer," he said.

Participants in the project said that by giving the village a facelift, they wish locals feel proud of where they live and work to conserve it.

Along with the wall painting project at Tam Thanh, Tam Ky has upgraded an embankment road from the city centre to the village as part of its efforts to develop eco-cultural tourism, said Nguyen Minh Nam, Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee.-VNA.
