PALM COAST, Fla. - July 12, 2016 - PRLog -- The Flagler Beach Historical Museum is pleased to honor Catherine Wilson's 15 years of exceptional leadership at the Museum on July 16th, 2016 at 12:00pm at the Flagler Women's Club. Lunch will be served at 1:00pm.

Catherine P. Wickline Wilson is the daughter of George E. Wickline and granddaughter of A.V. and Etta Wickline. She came to Flagler Beach in 1956 with her husband, Bernie Wilson and daughters, JoAnne and (Flagler County Commissioner) Barbara Revels.

The idea for the Museum started with having several tables of historic items and pictures displayed on the walls of the City Hall Commission Room on Friday mornings. The response was great and soon people began donating historical items from their families. "As a volunteer began the cataloguing, we realized that we needed to find space for a real museum," said Catherine. "We elected a Board of Directors and their work began to find funding for this project," she added. They visited several other museums in and out of the state to plan the best layout for the space. The Tourist Development Council helped fund the renovation after the City of Flagler Beach gave permission to use the former Fire Department bay area.

Catherine authored 'A New Beginning: A Picturesque History of Flagler Beach' in 1998. She has also been honored as a Flagler Beach Rotary Citizen of the Year.Catherine's community involvement through the years has included President of the Flagler Beach School PTA, President of Flagler Beach Volunteer Fire Dept. Auxiliary, President of the United Methodist Church Women's Society, Director of the Methodist Church Choir, Chairman of Flagler County Recreation Committee, Chairman of the Flagler Beach Recreation Committee, also a Charter member of the Flagler County Music Society, member of the Flagler County Historical Society. She is presently retired after twenty-five years service with Barnett Bank of Volusia County.

The event is open to the public and RSVPs are required. Tickets are $20, with a portion being donated to the Museum's Catherine Wilson fund. Central Ave. in Flagler Beach.
