Juergen Hase to lead Reliance Group's IoT wing

NEW DELHI - July 12, 2016 - PRLog -- Anil Ambani led Reliance Group has officially appointed Juergen Hase as CEO for its booming Internet of Things (IoT) business.

Hase comes laden with a huge experience and joins from Ooredoo, a telecommunication company in Qatar, where he was the director of IoT and M2M (machine to machine) communications at group level. He will report directly to group's managing director Amitabh Jhunjhunwala.

A tech wizard, Juergen's 25 year experience in the telecom industry includes being the vice president at Deutsche Telekom (DT) for more than a decade. He graduated from Technical University, Germany with a major in telecommunications and is a crucial part of many global M2M associations.

IoT is the future of technology and Reliance Group wants to gain an upper hand over its competitors especially in the industries of telecom, power and utilities, transportation and financial services and thereby fuel a fast growth in IoT business.

Currently, IoT industry is seeing maximum investments in smart homes, wearables like smart watch, smart cities, smart grids, industrial IoT, smart vehicles, healthcare industry, retailing, supply chain and smart farming. The concept of smart city is especially being promoted by the government and plans have been laid out for the next decade.

RCOM, a subsidiary of Reliance Group, partnered for IoT with Jasper Technologies, which was later merged into Cisco Systems Inc. Reliance Energy is also doing its bit by using smart grid management to check transmission and distribution losses and cut-down energy bills. Similarly, Reliance General Insurance uses IoT for vehicle telematics to access the risk profile of vehicle insurance patrons.

"Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital for Remote Healthcare and Assisted Living and these (IoT pilot projects on healthcare, vehicle insurance, power management) are intended to be scaled up and made available for external customers under Juergen's leadership," the Reliance Group said in a statement.
