Christmas Book for Children: Santa's Sugar Available from the Author This Christmas
Author Jane Gerencher's contract with her publisher Inkwell Productions, Scottsdale AZ, has ended. There are no plans to do a second edition of Santa's Sugar, the story of a little elf named Nugget who tries valiantly to find his place in Santa's workshop. The small number of hardcover books remaining are now available directly from the author for a reduced price.
The illustrations were done by Michael Patch. The changing page colors reflect the mood of the story, and deep colors draw the reader into the fantasy. The story begins with the nighttime sky and the excitement of the elves as Santa's sleigh is spotted in the distance. The cheering elves lift their torches to light the way for Santa's safe landing. The illustrations have been faithful to the storyline, beginning with Nugget's failed attempts in the workshop, the kitchen and in the reindeer barn. When Nugget flies off into the night to rescue Sugar, the reader feels the mixture of fear and exhilaration as Nugget clings to the back of his new friend Twizzle. The story culminates in a satisfying ride home in the sleigh on Christmas morning. Clutching Sugar to his chest and sitting next to Santa, Nugget now feels like a true elf.
Published in 2012, Santa's Sugar has won 10 awards, including a Mom's Choice Award and a Reader's Favorite Award, and received numerous enthusiastic reviews. Feedback from former purchasers report that the book has become a Christmas must-read for their children and grandchildren. The high quality paper and hardcover will insure that Santa's Sugar will be around for a long time.
