California Democratic Legislative Women's Caucus Endorses Christy Smith For 38th Assembly District

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - July 6, 2016 - PRLog -- It was announced today that Christy Smith, Democratic candidate for the California's 38^th Assembly District, has received the key statewide endorsement of the California Democratic Legislative Women's Caucus.  The Women's Caucus represents and promotes sound legislative policies and budget priorities in the California State Legislature that improve the well-being of California's women, children, and families.

"We are extremely proud to endorse Christy Smith for Assemblymember in the 38^th district.  Christy has proven herself to be a strong advocate for families, women and especially children," said Women's Caucus Vice-Chair Assemblymember Cristina Garcia. Smith, who was the top vote getter in the Primary among five candidates, says she is honored by the endorsement. "The Democratic Legislative Women's Caucus is an extremely respected organization in Sacramento," said Smith. "Their endorsement of my campaign is extremely appreciated."

The 38^th State Assembly District is one of 80 districts.  It encompasses the mountainous inner northern suburbs of Los Angeles.  It consists of the Santa Clarita Valley and Simi Valley, along with parts of Soledad Canyon and the San Fernando Valley.

About Christy Smith

Christy Smith is a two-term Governing Board Member of the highly successful Newhall School District.  She is a 34-year resident of Santa Clarita.  A graduate of Hart High School, Christy attended College of the Canyons and graduated with honors from UCLA with a B.A. in Political Science in 1993. In her early career Christy worked as an analyst at the U.S. Department of Education. Christy was elected to the Newhall School Board in 2009.  She is active in education advocacy locally and state-wide, serving as the Legislative Vice President of the Santa Clarita Valley Trustees Association and as a delegate to the California School Board Association.
