Thomas Edison once said, "The reason a lot of people do not recognize opportunity is because it goes around wearing overalls looking like hard work!"

Sam Fanelli and Jack Rehak, founders of Riverview Homes, Inc., were ready and willing to roll up their sleeves and get to work when the opportunity to get into the manufactured home business arose.

They met one another while working at the Valley News Dispatch in the 1960s. In 1968, they pooled their resources, a whopping $1,167.82 and purchased an existing used car lot on RIver Road near Vandergrift.

In 1970, they took on selling manufactured homes as a "sideline." It didn't take the partners long to realize that selling homes was far more rewarding than selling used cars. Today, forty four years after selling their first unit, Riverview Homes is the oldest, largest and most respected manufactured home dealer in the Northeastern United States.

A lot has changed in the almost four and a half decades since Sam Fanelli and Jack Rehak founded Riverview Homes. The homes are bigger, better built, and far more luxurious.

The process of buying and financing a home has become far more challenging. These factors, combined with increasing government regulations, forced many smaller dealers to close their doors. The owners realized that in order to flourish in this challenging market, they needed to grow and to offer their customers an extraordinary level of support and service.

In the past 44 years, Riverview Homes has grown to encompass eight locations strategically located throughout Western Pennsylvania. Their size allows them to maintain a huge inventory offering potential buyers a large selection of homes to choose from.

Because they are one of the nation's largest dealerships they can negotiate with the factories for savings, which they pass along to their customers. These economies of scale allow Riverview to offer the best prices and the widest selection of manufactured homes in the region.

One thing that hasn't changed at Riverview Homes over the decades is their dedication to service. Riverview Homes is still a small family business at heart. Sam Fanelli is still active in the business and his sons John and Robert and Mr. Rehak's son, Doug, manage the day to day operations of the firm. Krysta Fanelli, Sam Fanelli's granddaughter, is the third generation of the family to serve Riverview's customers.

When you call Riverview Homes you are very likely to talk to one of the business's owners. The staff of Riverview Homes forms an extended family. The majority of their employees have been with the company ten or more years and some employees have twenty or even forty years on the job.

Riverview Homes has sold over 30,000 homes since they opened their doors. This experience has made them experts at helping first time homeowners navigate the home buying process. From selecting the right home for your needs and your budget, to securing financing and setting up the home on your lot, the nice folks at Riverview are there for you.

Riverview Homes size and the large volume of homes they sell allows them to maintain a full time staff of installers and service people. A home is a big investment and you want to be sure that your dealer will be there for you and that they have the expertise to resolve any problems which may crop up after the sale. Riverview Homes scores high marks in both of these areas.

While researching this article, I toured several of the models on the Riverview Homes sales center. I was pleasantly surprised by their quality, construction and design. These homes were the equal of any home that graces the pages of Better Homes and Gardens.

If you are in the market for a new home, I highly recommend you visit one of Riverview Homes eight convenient locations. You'll be glad you did.
