PharMedQuest Partners with AltaMed on OC Pride Parade and Festival Outreach

SANTA ANA, Calif. - June 30, 2016 - PRLog -- PharMedQuest, in collaboration with AltaMed, participated in the 2016 Orange County Pride Parade and Festival.  Both companies shared a booth, which was partially staffed by PharMedQuest employees Christian Ortiz and Augustin Gomes.  The LGBT Pride Parade took place on Saturday June 25th, 2016 in downtown Santa Ana. The theme was "LIVE YOUR LIFE" with emphasis on PrEP.  PrEP means Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, and it's the use of anti-HIV medication that keeps HIV negative people from becoming infected. PrEP is approved by the FDA and has been shown to be safe and effective.

During the festival, PharMedQuest performed outreach for services like; HIV testing and treatment, PrEP/PEP navigation and linkage to care.  In addition to opening PMQ pharmacy locations at new AltaMed health clinics, AltaMed and PharMedQuest have been collaborating for the last ten years, three of those at the Santa Ana Central AltaMed location.

"Patients are looking for convenience," said Rosa Arreguin, Manager of the ACE program at PharMedQuest.  "We are able to provide that by dispensing their HIV medications and supplements at our pharmacies located on-site at AltaMed health clinics, through free delivery and mail services, and in-clinic pick ups among other services."

This year's OC Pride Festival and Parade was the 8th annual event in Orange County and marked the 5th Anniversary in Downtown Santa Ana.  Attendance at OC Pride events has grown from 3,000 attendees in 2011 to over 10,000 in 2015 and doubling it to approximately 20,000 for 2016!
