By: Emterra Group - Emterra Environmental On June 29, 2016 Emterra presented an additional contribution of $43,000 to OneFoundation, bringing total donations to over $200,000 since 2011. The funding goes directly to Niagara's Walker Family Cancer Centre (WFCC) for the purchase of cancer treatment equipment. The purchase of this equipment is vital for the provision of quality care to the residents of Niagara Region facing cancer. Emterra Environmental is the Region of Niagara's contractor for the collection of blue and grey box recyclables, bulky waste, batteries, yard waste and organics. Recognized as a leader in the waste management industry across Canada, Emterra also recognizes that local initiatives in individual communities across the country can provide an immediate, direct positive impact. Emterra's annual gift to the cancer centre is actually a partnership with residents who take up the challenge to maximize recyclables put out for collection by Emterra. The challenge to residents is the more they recycle, the more Emterra donates. With this "made-in-Niagara" "OneFoundation exists to support extraordinary health services for residents of Niagara. We're so grateful for the support of corporate leaders like Emterra whose generous, long-term commitment to the Walker Family Cancer Centre ensures that local cancer patients receive the best possible care," said Joseph Maggiolo, OneFoundation for Niagara Health System Board Chair. Brian Gogo, Emterra's Vice President of Ontario Operations, presented the cheque today to the WFCC Manager of Radiation Therapy Richard Singh and staff members in front of the unit's ceremonial bell that is rung by patients who have completed their treatment. Also present on behalf of OneFoundation were Board Member Roland Giguere and Interim Director of Development Peter McKinley. "We are proud to be a part of the Niagara community and to be able to provide this support to the Walker Family Cancer Centre," says Mr. Gogo. "By linking participation in recycling programs to donations like this, Emterra is not only improving access to cancer care services in Niagara but is also actively building a greener community." In Niagara, MYCATC is also sponsored by Sun Media publications, the St. Catharines Standard, the Niagara Falls Review and the Welland Tribune and by the Region of Niagara. As a Canadian leader in the waste resource recovery and waste management industry, Emterra Environmental is proud to partner with the residents of Niagara to create a sustainable, healthy Niagara Region.
