National Conference on Water Resources and Hydro Power 2016

DEHRADUN, India - June 29, 2016 - PRLog -- Department of Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering at UPES organized a conference on 'Water Resources & Hydro Power' from June 17-18, 2016. Dr S J Chopra, Chancellor, UPES, Dehradun, Prof. Utpal Ghosh President & CEO, Dr ShriHari Honwad V-C lightened the lamp and released the souvenir in presence of Chief Guest Er. Bhajan Singh, Managing Director, Pey Jal Nigam limited, Dehradun.

The main objective of the conference was to spread awareness about management of water resources & optimal hydro-electric generation. Industry and academic experts from all over India came together to network and discuss the advancements in different aspects of water resources & Hydro Power Engineering.

Er. Bhajan Singh stressed on the need to conserve every drop of water and harness it judiciously for various uses like ground water recharge, supply of drinking water and to use surplus water for hydropower generation.

Addressing as the key note speaker, Padamshree Dr Avdhash Kaushal spoke about the Damning Hydro-Dams is a Himalayan Blunder from water resource and hydropower perspective.

In this conference, a large number participants attended this conference from 16 states, most of them from reputed institutions like IIT, NIT etc. After careful scrutiny and review by the experts of review committee, papers were selected for the inclusion in the proceedings of the conference.
