CPL to bring top level cricket to the USA --- "positive step forward" for potential USA cricket franchise says ICC's Tim Anderson

Cricket followers in the USA will have the chance to watch some of the greatest players in the world this summer in the HERO Caribbean Premier League (CPL) after the International Cricket Council (ICC) approved the staging of Twenty20 (T20) fixtures in the forthcoming 2016 season.

ICC Head of Global Development, Tim Anderson, said: "In partnership with the US cricket community the ICC has recently established a strategic framework for the future development of cricket in the USA. " Six fixtures are planned to take place between 28-31 July at South Florida's Central Broward Stadium. Tickets for all CPL matches are on sale at

Commenting on the announcement, CPL CEO Damien O'Donohoe said: "Today is a landmark day for the CPL and a massive boost for cricket followers across the USA."

Some of the biggest stars in world cricket, including West Indies stars Dwayne Bravo, Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard, alongside South Africa's AB de Villiers, New Zealand's Brendon McCullum and Australia's Shane Watson, will descend on Florida between 28-31 July in what will be a gripping final round of matches before the finals the following week.

Local favourite Steven Taylor, a USA international all-rounder who will feature once more for Barbados Tridents having represented his country on 18 occasions to date, said: "As a Florida man, born and bred, I am hugely honoured to be involved in this incredible departure for professional cricket in the USA. There is a huge cricket audience across America who are craving for the opportunity to see some of the biggest names in world cricket, and CPL's decision to play these six games in Central Broward Stadium is huge for the sport."

Fort Lauderdale Fixtures (all times local): 28 July - Guyana Amazon Warriors v Barbados Tridents (7pm), 29 July - St Kitts & Nevis Patriots v Trinbago Knight Riders (7pm), 30 July - St. Lucia Zouks v Jamaica Tallawahs (midday), Barbados Tridents v Guyana Amazon Warriors (4pm), 31 July - Trinbago Knight Riders v St Kitts & Nevis Patriots (midday), Jamaica Tallawahs v St. Lucia Zouks (4pm).


The Hero Caribbean Premier League, which will take place from 29 June - 7 August, is a franchise-based T20 format cricket tournament that combines two of the most compelling aspects of Caribbean life - dramatic cricket and a vibrant Carnival atmosphere. The CPL has attracted some of the biggest stars of the world game for the fourth year of this successful tournament. In addition to Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia and Trinidad & Tobago, this year the CPL will also break new ground as six matches will be played in Central Broward Stadium, Lauderhill, Florida, from 28-31 July.
