Notionpress presents author Tenzin Phuntsok with his book 'My Name is Tenzin, I am not Chinese'

The book is a reflection of the author's thoughts and experiences. Tenzin shares a lot of stories about the place he hails from, his life, and about his identity in the world; some that we are not aware of and some that would bring out tears in our eyes. The author shares the fact that the book is a result of his socially fragmented life in college. The book touches upon how a million families were separated in Tibet as a result of the Chinese invasion in Tibet and how his identity has been constantly mistaken.

The book delves into the eight years of life Tenzin spent in Chennai, away from his homeland. It's a reflection of the experiences of an exiled Tibetan boy's life in Chennai and the things he sees and learns in the host country, the places he sees, and his revelations in life. Entirely a non-fiction, the book is a moving account of Tenzin's life and times in India. While pursuing studies in the college, he is found to be misidentified with other look-alike students and youths in the city. Tenzin Phuntsok alias Doring Tenzin had completed his schooling from Tibetan Homes School, Mussoorie where he topped 12^th Standard Board Exam, 2006. In the same year, he joined Madras Christian College and completed B.A, M.A and M.Phil in Political Science.

His college years have not just been restricted to academic life. In 2007, he served as PRO of Tibetan Students Association in Madras to which he also served twice as president in 2008 and 2012. In early 2008, he skipped college exam along with several others to actively partake and lead in the freedom activities against China in New Delhi in the wake of upcoming Beijing Olympic. He also served as chief coordinator for 3^rd Tibetan College Students Conference in Varanasi. Having lost scholarship, he partly worked in BPO in 2009-2011 before he jumped for master's course. Currently he resides in Dharamsala, India with his wife Tenzin Dolma
