Fired Up: Young Professionals for Nantasha Williams Rally in Support at Fundraiser Event

By: Nantasha Williams

NEW YORK - June 24, 2016 - PRLog -- On June 23, Nantasha Williams, a democratic public servant and Cambria Heights resident, met with friends, family, and local officials at SideBarNYC, to set in stone her desire to represent all constituents in the 33rd District, which includes Queens Village, Cambria Heights, Parts of St. Albans, Hollis and Bellerose in this years' New York Assembly District 33 election.

In her announcement speech, Williams referenced numerous issues she plans to tackle in the community to include; protecting homeowners and providing property tax and mortgage relief, the need for increasing youth development programs, the fight to protect seniors, improving our education system, and increasing workforce development initiatives.

"We must empower and activate the community and use a multi-faceted approach towards moving a progressive agenda" Nantasha said.

Reverend Karim Camara and nationally- known civil rights leader Tamika Mallory opened up the floor to express their support in the Williams for Assembly campaign and encouraged millennials in the room to actively stand behind Nantasha during this race. Mallory honed in on recent issues facing our nation as it pertains to gun violence, the most recent non-conviction in the Freddie Gray case, and the Supreme Court ruling that will now allow police to use evidence recovered in illegal stops citing reasons why we need Nantasha in office to represent this generation and make change through transformative action.

" We want to see Nantasha flourish in this race and come into office with fresh ideas and fight for our issues. It's important that we support those who speak our language, who know, from the ground up what is going on in our community. We must put our money where our mouths are in order to make necessary changes and take action, " Mallory said.

The petitioning process to be included on the ballot is still underway. For more information and to get actively involved in the  WilliamsforAssemby campaign, please visit www.williamsforassembly.com.
