LOS ANGELES - June 23, 2016 - PRLog -- For women struggling to become pregnant, the options available for improving fertility and maintaining a full-term pregnancy can be confusing and overwhelming. In FEED YOUR FERTILITY, Emily Bartlett and Laura Erlich offer readers an approach to fertility that incorporates Eastern and Western medicine and traditional dietary choices.

The authors guide readers through the causes of fertility problems and share a variety of solutions. In part one of the four-part book, the authors discuss the role diet, toxins, and stress play in fertility.

When the authors' pivot to a focus on diet, they recommend that women trying to conceive eat the way their great-great grandmothers ate by consuming "nutrient-dense foods" such as savory meats, healthy fats, raw dairy, and cultured foods (such as yogurt and sauerkraut).

Part two of FEED YOUR FERTILITY offers tips for cultivating both male and female fertility. Next, the authors explore "conscious conception," which involves a potential new mother making room in her life for the baby she desires by adopting a positive outlook and refocusing on self-care. Bartlett and Erlich dive deeply into a discussion of food as medicine with specific tips of which foods to consume to improve the nervous system, build the blood, clear out toxins, etc. The chapter ends with an offering of several real-food recipes and recommendations for vitamins and supplements.

The third part of the book reviews several of the common fertility problems (including miscarriage, endometriosis, and fibroids) through the lenses of Eastern and Western medicine. This part of the book includes case studies and a section that exclusively targets the "male factor" in infertility.

The fourth and final part of the book covers the basic "fertility workup" and descriptions of assisted reproductive technologies. Bartlett and Erlich also offer readers information on alternative measures for building their families, such as egg donation. Additionally, the appendix includes a week of meals that are heavily based on the recipes provided in FEED YOUR FERTILITY.

The authors' hope readers of FEED YOUR FERTILITY will "feel empowered to take charge of their health and their fertility by making conscious choices around what they put into and onto their bodies, how they manage stress and anxiety, and through the use of holistic medicine, including acupuncture, herbal medicines, and supplements."
