The BMW E46 navigation is a beautiful piece of machinery, one designed by expert engineers, artists, and technological trend-setters of our time. It comes with an intuitive interface, a sleek design, and the kind of processing power that makes every command seamless and simple. So while the factory navigation system for the BMW E46 will certainly turn some heads, it is the aftermarket in which all the art is found.

The Aftermarket

The BMW E46 navigation factory system is elegant, but doesn't compare to the power and performance of the aftermarket system. It includes UI, front panel, buttons, and is touch screen operational [by finger or stylus], and a 7" digital HD screen 800 x 480 resolution. It functions include a 800mhz CPU, Windows CE6.0, ARM11 platform that supports 1080p video. The BMW E46 navigation system DVD supports original Alpine 6 CD changer. It has a GPS built-in navigation, with free IGO maps that support 2D and 3D maps. May support all IPod, IPhone, and Android systems depending on the navigation system that specifies to you.
The BMW E46 Navigation can even connect a rear view camera, which is optional. This allows you to see a live feed from behind you to avoid accidents. The navigation also includes red/ orange button lights to match the original back light. It has Bluetooth functionality, a microphone built- in, phone book, caller ID, Bluetooth music, A2DP, and FM/AM capabilities.
IGO maps are also available for use in USA, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Europe, Brazil, UAE, Asia, etc. GPS has dual-zone which means you may listen to music or radio while the GPS is running. It also has adjustable image brightness.

A Quality Conclusion

You can even hold & switch incoming calls, and there is battery as well as mobile reception level indicators. Another positive about Parrot Bluetooth is that it allows advanced audio-streaming while displaying a song, artist, & tag information.
The BMW E46 aftermarket features a built-in navigation system. This systemcan help you get to your destination faster and efficiently. It's also pre-loaded withhigh-quality points of interest, including a very nice database that shows national parks, petrol stations, restaurants and much more!
The navigation even features 3-D rendering of terrains & landmarks, tunnel-view, 3-D Auto-zoom for crossings and roundabouts, smart route planning, parking around algorithm, Real junction view, calculations of real-time route alternatives, and detour hint function. This system is equipped with 4V Preout, which is a high-powered 4 Volt preamp output that ensures ultra-clean signal to that aftermarket amplifiers.
When the gain is properly matched, these voltage RCAs can stop ambient noise, even when it is extremely loud. Sound tuning levels for a subwoofer adjusting from 0 to 7, Bass level and Treble level control range from -7 to 7, 7 band graphic equalizer, and adjustable output level of -6 to +6db.

In comparison to the BMW E-46, the aftermarket has many more optimal features! Given that many of the features on the aftermarket one are pre-set that do not include extra cost, and it has more high quality features available, it is my opinion that the aftermarket model is a much more sophisticated item with more bang for your buck.
