SEATTLE - June 21, 2016 - PRLog -- The Dickson Law Group PS confirms that the newly released plain language family law forms must be used starting July 1, 2016, although their use is optional prior to that time.  The forms are meant to be easier to read and to understand. To prepare for this transition, Washington Courts recommend that individuals limit their supply of printed form packets with domestic relations forms.  Section 26.18.220(3) of the Washington law provides that an individual's failure to use the mandatory forms (http://app.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=26.18.220) shall not be a reason to dismiss a case, although the court may require the individual to submit a corrected pleading and may impose terms payable to the opposing party or the court, or both.

The newly released plain language forms modify all prior family law forms, including the Parenting Plan, Child Support Order, Petition for (Divorce) Dissolution, and Final Order Ending Domestic Partnership (Divorce).

The majority of American children do not live in a "traditional" household with a mother and father in their first marriage. The desirability of that situation is open to debate, but the reality is not. Family law matters, particularly issues with second and subsequent marriages, as well as unmarried parents, are a reality in most area households. These situations have special challenges, and it is critical to partner with an attorney experienced in these specific matters.

At the Dickson Law Group PS, we are dedicated to families in Tacoma and Seattle. Our attorneys understand the unique nature of Washington family law, and they work hard to deliver solutions that protect your family and uphold your legal rights.  Although we handle many of the same family law issues, we know that every case and client is unique. Our attorneys take the time to listen to you, to gain an understanding of your goals and your needs. Then, we offer competent advice based on our years of collective experience, both in and out of the courtroom.

Family law issues touch nearly every family in Washington, either directly or indirectly. For a free consultation with an experienced and compassionate attorney call the Dickson Law Group PS today at 206-621-1110 or contact us by way of email at reception@dicksonlegal.com.
