Join Our Class Launches An Innovative Free School Directory Service

AUSTIN, Texas - June 20, 2016 - PRLog -- Join Our Class (joinourclass.com) announces the launch of their free school directory service with innovative features like a map view for finding families interested in playdates and carpooling, and integration with LinkedIn to facilitate the school community to get to know one another.

The free school directory is a piece of Join Our Class's larger offerings which include sign-up and volunteer lists, parent-teacher conference scheduling, smarter communications, classroom and school blogging, and other features focused on enhancing parental engagement and involvement in their kids' school life.

"With Join Our Class, we built a system that we, as modern parents, would want to use," says Veronica Barrio, co-founder of Join Our Class. "Our own school used a different parent portal, but the usability was so poor that no one enjoyed using it. We saw the value of having an online school directory and parent portal, and that is what inspired us to design and build Join Our Class. Our primary goal was to create a more modern and enjoyable user experience in an effort to bring the whole school community closer and improve communications between the school and parents."

The school directory service is free and mobile ready, with a strong emphasis on maintaining security. It makes it quick and easy to look up family, staff and group information. Parents can enhance their profiles by automatically pulling in their LinkedIn profile and their profile photo. The privacy settings enable users to only share information they are comfortable with. The directory also features a map view to allow families interested in playdates or carpooling to find other interested families nearby.

The parent portal features a simple dashboard where the user can view important announcements, upcoming events, blog posts, birthdays, and recent photos. To prevent information overload for busy parents, Join Our Class only shows parents information relevant to their kids' classes or group activities. Parents can adjust their filters to view less or more information based on what they are interested in. A shared calendar enables the user to keep up with school and classroom events, assignment due dates and other information. The parent portal also allows the teachers to take attendance from their smartphones or tablets and also allows the parents to view their kid's attendance record online.
