Daystar Donates $60,000 to Send Iraqi Refugee Children to School

DALLAS - June 17, 2016 - PRLog -- Daystar Television Network recently donated $60,000 to Canon Andrew White and his efforts in Iraq, specifically in maintaining a school built for refugee children.

The donation was made in response to a $10,000 matching donation challenge issued by Daystar President and CEO Marcus Lamb when Canon Andrew White was a guest on the network's flagship show, Marcus and Joni, in early April.

"Daystar strongly supports Canon Andrew White's work which provides spiritual, medical and material relief to Iraqi children displaced by violent upheaval," says Marcus Lamb. "We issued a matching donation challenge to help him in his mission to help these precious Iraqi children."

Daystar partners and viewers around the world responded generously, and the network was able to send just over $60,000 to assist the Iraqi refugee children, helping to maintain the school and also a sense of normalcy within the chaos for these children who have suffered so much.

Daystar has stood with us all along in the most terrible situations," says Canon Andrew White. "We can only do what we do today because of what Daystar has done standing with us. We thank you for not leaving us in this desperate state."

Canon Andrew White is the Chaplain of St George's Anglican Church in Baghdad, Iraq, which he has led since 1998. He is also the founder and president of the Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East. The organization exists to support Canon White's unique work at St George's by providing a spiritual home, medical care, humanitarian relief and the promotion of reconciliation among different religious groups in the heart of Baghdad's Red Zone.
