By: Urban League of Greater Atlanta The awards event will begin at noon at the Twelve Hotel, Atlantic Station. The Urban League will be joined by corporate, government, civic and individual supporters to recognize Pulliam and three youth achievers under the theme "Investing in Youth Today…Empowering Young Adults Tomorrow." Keshia was born in New Jersey and pesently resides in Atlanta. She graduated with honors from Spelman College with a BA in sociology and film in 2001. After graduation, she started her Kamp Kizzy Foundation that operates mentoring camps for girls and boys ages 11-18 in Atlanta. She is a fierce advocate for high-quality educational opportunities for all children, no matter their income level. "We are so pleased to honor Keshia because she is a role model not only for the young people she mentors but for adults who are interested in investing in our youth," said Nancy Flake Johnson, president and CEO of the Urban League of Greater Atlanta. "We all have a duty to help young people grow and become successful young adults so they can be tomorrow's leaders." Johnson said it's equally important to honor the youth and young adults who are putting themselves on successful pathways through the League's Urban Youth Empowerment programs. The three program participants who will be awarded at the event are Aminah Colbert, Michael Cook and Jacqueline Gibson. WSB-TV 2 reporter Tyisha Fernandes will serve as mistress of ceremonies and Rev. Richard Wayne Wills Sr., pastor of Friendship Baptist Church, will deliver the invocation. Musical entertainment will be provided by Tate Farris and Ceavanti Rhodes Youth Ensemble (YEA) and teen jazz group Anonymous Da Band.
