The story revolves around the life of Mun, an orphan with two brothers, who receives a blue bottle when she goes to pick her aunt up from the railway station. The bottle becomes her instant companion and a security of sorts. Her aunt marries Mun off to Suliman, who works with Mun in the quarry. Suliman falls for Mun and in the efforts to keep her happy, he ends up selling her. Mun, somehow escapes from his clutches, retaining the blue bottle safely with her.

As she flees, she reaches a mosque to meet Mullahji, where she meets a stranger and is taken to Sheikh's house. He looks after Mun to link her with a flesh-trader named Shakila. Shakila too falls for Mun, who finds this disturbing. She again flees from them until she meets Ahmed, who offers her accommodation and asks her to take care of her pregnant wife. Things seemed to go fine until Mun falls for Ahmed. When Ahmed's wife realizes the affair, Mun notices the mysterious blue bottle turning black. The readers are then taken back to the story of the bottle and its reason for turning black all of a sudden.

Where does the bottle come from? Is it indeed a guiding light to the one possessing it or a source of despair? Mun meets a lot of people in her life but what happen to them because of the bottle?
