Urban Grid & Universal Renewables complete Phase 1 of a 1,228 kW portfolio of rooftop solar systems

WASHINGTON - June 16, 2016 - PRLog -- Urban Grid Holdings, LLC (Urban Grid), a leading developer and financier of solar projects throughout the United States, has announced the completion of three projects totaling 511 kW of solar energy in Washington D.C. These three projects represent the first phase of a 1,228 kW portfolio on seven Charter schools, with the remaining installations to be completed in early summer.

This first phase of installations includes a 211.2 kW roof-mounted solar array at Blow Pierce Junior Academy, a 151.8 kW roof-mounted array at Chamberlain Elementary and Middle, and a 148.5 kW roof-mounted array at Woodridge International. When complete, the entire portfolio will produce 1,536,857 kWh annually. The electricity generated is enough to power 159 homes for one year.

Universal Renewables developed and is constructing the projects. Urban Grid is providing financing for the project through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Friendship Public Charter Schools.  The systems are expected to provide Friendship with significant energy savings over the life of the agreement.
