Sterlite Copper Observed World Environment Day

TUTICORIN, India - June 12, 2016 - PRLog -- Sterlite Copper, a unit of Vedanta Limited observed the World Environment Day on 6^th June, 2015. Mr Anshu Goel, Business Head - Copper and Precious Metal, Sterlite Copper inaugurated the World Environment Day Celebration at Sterlite Copper by hoisting the flag.

Sterlite Copper employees took environment pledge for the protection of the environment. Mr Anshu Goel initiated the campaign with plantation inside Sterlite Copper. More than 100 trees were planted inside the plant premises. As part of World Environment Day celebration, fruit saplings were distributed the employees.

World Environment Day is observed every year to demonstrate and reinforce our commitment for the preservation of environment. For this year, the theme chosen by the UNEP is "Go Wild For Life" to show zero tolerance for the illegal trade in wildlife in word and deed, to mark a difference.

The company is conferred with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) 'Sustainable Plus Platinum Label', ranking among the top 10 most sustainable companies in India.
