NEW YORK - June 8, 2016 - PRLog -- A summer of fun, featuring the lifetime sport of tennis, awaits area kids ages 3-18! Today, SPORTIME and the John McEnroe Tennis Academy announced a line-up of camps to be held at SPORTIME Randall's Island, beginning Monday, June 13. SPORTIME's three summer camps include "Tennis Whizz" camp for ages 3-5; "U10 Tennis & Sports" camp for ages 5-10; and John McEnroe Tennis Academy Training camp for ages 7-18.

SPORTIME's summer camp programs offer a fun way to challenge campers' athletic abilities, while enhancing their self-esteem and providing positive social interaction. SPORTIME campers enjoy the best tennis and sports programming, with experienced, qualified counselors and sports professionals, and the finest and safest facilities in NYC.  The JMTA Training Camp curriculum features a combination of drills, technical coaching, match play, off-court athletic and cross-training, and mental toughness training, specifically tailored to the ages and levels of each JMTA player group.

"The SPORTIME Randall's Island Summer training camps combine first-rate facilities and skilled tennis coaches to provide a fun and challenging experience for kids at all levels," said Lawrence Kleger, Director of Tennis, JMTA. "And while tennis is the most important part of our camp programming, we believe in providing a balanced experience where each day includes a variety of complementary activities that players enjoy all summer long."

In Tennis Whizz (TW), each child receives thoughtful, personalized attention in a safe and age-appropriate learning environment. The TW camp day includes specialized tennis instruction, a variety of multi-sport lessons and games, arts & crafts, and a slip n' slide water feature.

The U10 Red and Orange Ball Tennis and Sports Summer Camp offers young athletes high-quality, professional tennis instruction by John McEnroe Tennis Academy coaches. The program features SPORTIME's U10 red and orange ball curriculum. To complement their on-court tennis training, U10 players receive tennis-specific, age-appropriate speed and agility training designed by JMTA's Athletic and Performance Training Department. Players also receive instruction and enjoy cross-training in a variety of team sports activities like basketball, soccer, kickball, flag football, softball and others.

The intensive JMTA Summer Training Camp is specifically designed for tennis players competing in, or striving to compete in, USTA Sectional, USTA National and ITF tournaments, and those interested in playing high-school tennis, college tennis and beyond. JMTA's world-class tennis and performance directors and coaches carefully evaluate students, place them in small age and level appropriate groups, and customize programs to meet their developmental needs. All levels are welcome. This summer your kids should "Train 52" weeks a year alongside top American players like Noah Rubin, Jamie Loeb, Madison Battaglia, Sam Turchetta and others.

About The John McEnroe Tennis Academy
In September 2010, tennis legend John McEnroe and SPORTIME partnered to launch the John McEnroe Tennis Academy in John's hometown of New York City, at the SPORTIME's flagship Randall's Island Tennis Center in Manhattan. In September 2012, JMTA expanded its geographic reach to SPORTIME locations in Westchester and on Long Island: SPORTIME Lake Isle, an 8-court, state-of-the art, year-round facility in Eastchester, New York in lower Westchester; and SPORTIME Syosset in central Long Island, an 11-court indoor facility, that has long served as SPORTIME's high performance training center on Long Island. John's passion and belief is that great players can be developed in urban settings, while still having the opportunity to live at home, pursue their educational goals, and participate in a variety of sports and extracurricular activities. The Academy works to recruit the most talented and the most highly motivated young athletes in the New York Metropolitan area and beyond. Inspired by the vision and daily presence of Johnny Mac and under the guidance of JMTA Managing Director, Bennett Schlansky, JMTA Tennis Director, Lawrence Kleger, JMTA Performance Director, Richard-John Mensing, Jr., and JMTA Director of Mental Performance and Toughness, Dr. Dom Lausic, as well as JMTA Westchester Director, Fritz Buehning and JMTA Long Island Director, Mike Kossoff, and with a world-class staff of tennis, athletic training and performance directors and coaches, JMTA delivers a complete training program designed to assure the best possible outcome for serious players; whether for junior tournament players, future and current collegiate stars, or for those seeking to play on, or currently playing on the ATP, WTA and ITF tours.
