1.     Visionary deliverers. Modern project managers are able to visualise the project delivery lifespan during conception of the project and anticipate risks, issues and dependencies that can jeopardize deadlines, budgets and user acceptance.

2.     Understanding the business. The debate has been raging for decades on whether a project manager must have subject matter expertise or not. ·         stakeholders to ensure that they steer and prepare the organisation for the change that is being delivered, and

·         the sponsorship team ensure they can take to market the products or ensure the efficiencies or effectiveness is achieved.

6.     They're executionists. Sometimes project managers can be too analytical, the modern project manager uses previous delivered plans, leveraging and adapting models and design the key focus areas are selecting the right team members, enlighten them on the higher purpose and focusing them on deliver.  As Larry Bossidy and Ram Charan with Charles Burck mentions in their book Execution, "…A leader must micromanager the critical elements of what will make or break the success of a strategy."  Shiloh add, "Used in a project management context: the critical path of delivery is the make or break for the project."
