Rochester Hills interior designer wins international design awards

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. - June 7, 2016 - PRLog -- Leen Zabalawi, owner of Decorating Den Interiors in Rochester Hills (www.leendesigns.decoratingden.com ), has received three design awards in the 32^nd annual Decorating Den Interiors' International Dream Room competition, presented recently in San Antonio, Texas.

Zabalawi won the company's People's Choice Awards for two room designs that were judged first and second overall in an online competition that drew 30,000 votes.

Her residential living room design, voted number one, was a project completed for a homeowner in Rochester, Mich. The complete makeover features new engineered hardwood flooring, new fireplace construction, and transitional style furnishings with metallic antiqued art and mirrors. Colorful geometric and floral prints provide a vibrant, exciting new look.

Zabalawi's commercial space design, which took second-place honors, can be seen in the patient waiting area of Dr. Hammam Zmily, a Medical Doctor who operates Premier Cardiovascular Consultants, 1629 Big Beaver Rd., Troy.  The small waiting area has an industrial rustic feel, with a colorful combination of blues, oranges, and yellows, with circular patterns and bold furnishings creating visual interest.

The commercial space also received a third-place award in its category in a separate competition judged by a select panel of interior design journalists from throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Zabalawi said she feels well suited to work as a Decorating Den designer, particularly since her offerings fit well with the company's overall mission. "As one of North America's largest interior design and home furnishings companies, we represent more than 100 home furnishings suppliers and offer our customers an almost limitless selection that suits their individual tastes," she said.

"Bringing those offerings to the client's home or office is a way to complement our design services as we personally oversee projects right through to the installation," she added.

Zabalawi, a Decorating Den Interiors owner since January, 2015, became interested and later highly proficient in interior design following a successful stint as a pharmacist in her native Jordan and New Mexico. She immigrated to the U.S. 11 years ago, studied design and graduated from Wayne State University in 2013, and worked at a number of Detroit-area home design centers before joining Decorating Den Interiors. You could say she has the "prescription" to tackle any interior design challenge.
