| Fitness Event, Run the City to Raise Awareness of Women Candidates in Richmond, VALocal Women Looking to Bridge the Gap for Womanhood one Race at a Time
This event is not just for women; men and families are welcomed to attend and participate. On site, there will be a voter's registration table and a warm up will be conducted by fitness partner, Tamara Arnold. Both of the women running for Mayor, Michelle Mosby and Lillie A. Estes have confirmed attendance. This Rally/Race/Voter Registration Drive event is extended to all women candidates competing for other elected positions including City Council and School Board. When asked about the reason of creating this platform, both LaTonya and Shemicia state "Run the City was conceived as an opportunity to be cheerleaders for women who have decided to run for public office. We want to spotlight the women in a way that hadn't been done before. The intentional imagery of having women stand with each other, even though there are vying for the same position is powerful. " Registration to participate is free and can be done by visiting http://runthecity.eventbrite.com.
