RALEIGH, N.C. - June 5, 2016 - PRLog -- Thomas Edison once said "If we all did the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves."  GiGi's Playhouse will help individuals with Down syndrome develop their own astounding capabilities, by providing direct therapeutic, educational and career-building support.  In that spirit, President Maegan Spontak has charged the Junior Woman's Club of Raleigh with helping others grow in their potential by partnering with GiGi's Playhouse during the 2016 - 2017 club year.

Each year, the President of the Junior Woman's Club of Raleigh selects a local organization that will receive the majority of the Club's time, resources, and fundraising efforts, with the intention of making a difference within that organization and the community. The focus organization for the 2015-2016 club year President's Project was Read and Feed. During the course of this project, the Junior Woman's Club of Raleigh collected school supplies and sorted books to benefit Read and Feed program participants, supported educational and fundraising events, and capped off the year with a gift in the amount of $1,928 - the dollar amount corresponding to the year of JWC's founding.

GiGi's Playhouse is a nationally established group of Down syndrome achievement centers, with 29 locations in North America.  The centers serve individuals with Down syndrome from infant to adult, as well as their families and the community.  The Playhouse will provide educational and therapeutic programs as well as job training for adults with Down syndrome - all at NO charge to families! The programs will focus on all aspects of skill development including education, social skills, speech and language skills, after school tutoring, career preparation, independent living skills and more.  GiGi's mission is to maximize self-confidence and empower individuals to achieve their greatest potential.

GiGi's Playhouse's Triangle location will have a grand opening on Saturday, June 18, 2016 from 2 - 4pm.  For additional information about services provided by GiGi's Playhouse, please visit http://gigisplayhouse.org/raleigh/ .

In addition to GiGi's Playhouse, the Junior Woman's Club of Raleigh will continue to serve the community through meaningful programs and projects, supporting a number of local organizations.
