Boston Mutual Life Insurance Appoints New Vice President - Chief Underwriting and Product Officer

CANTON, Mass. - June 2, 2016 - PRLog -- Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company, a national provider of insurance solutions for individuals and at the workplace, today announced the appointment of Joseph W. Sullivan, J.D., as Vice President - Chief Underwriting and Product Officer. In this newly created role, Mr. Sullivan will oversee the company's underwriting and product development efforts, creating a strategic vision, objectives, and operational plans for an integrated underwriting and product department.

In conjunction with Mr. Sullivan's addition to the company, Boston Mutual will introduce a new department that will integrate its current General Agencies and Workplace Solutions underwriting teams into a highly effective, cross-trained risk assessment and pricing organization. Mr. Sullivan and this new team will also assume responsibility for managing and expanding the company's existing product capabilities, which include a variety of insurance solutions for both the individual and workplace markets, and identifying new product opportunities in the future.

Joseph Sullivan was most recently Chief Executive Officer, U.S. Accident Division, at Pan-American Life Insurance Company in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. Previously, he served in various roles at Greenwood International Insurance Services, Inc., including Chief Executive Officer (2011 - 2015), Chief Operating Officer (2003 - 2011), and Senior Vice President (2000 - 2003). Prior to joining Greenwood International Insurance Services in 2000,he also has underwriting experience at Health Reinsurance Management Partnership, The New England, UNUM, and State Mutual, and was self-employed as an attorney, specializing in estate planning.

Mr. Sullivan holds a law degree from Suffolk University in Boston, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts, with a major in Business Administration, Human Resource Management. Mr. Sullivan is a member of the Board of Advisors for Advanced Medical Strategies (AMS) in Lynnfield, Massachusetts. He is also a current member of the Massachusetts Reinsurance Bar Association, and served as an Adjunct Professor at Western New England College in Springfield, Massachusetts. In addition, Mr. Sullivan is a member of the Our Lady of the Rosary Finance Committee in Worcester, Massachusetts.
