CURACAO, Netherlands Antilles - May 31, 2016 - PRLog -- Avalon University School of Medicine officially welcomed 24 new exceptionally talented groups of students into the medical community during its White Coat ceremony held at the beginning of every four month semester. The ceremony, in which students are "coated" by distinguished members of the School's faculty and recite a physician's oath, is a rite of passage for students that mark their entry into professional training.

Hippocratic Oath, reflects the core mission of our School. Among the values noted in the oath, the students pledged to treat each patient with unconditional dignity and compassion as a human being, serve as advocates and activists for social justice, and advance medicine through the study and conduct of scientific inquiry.

The ceremony's keynote speaker was Sateesh Arja, MD, Executive dean. Dr. Raghavendra Rao, Dean of student Affairs, Dr. Maria Picu, Professor and HOD Pathology and Mr. Allen David, Ex SGA President at the Avalon University School of Medicine made additional remarks. Dr. Arja's key note speech described his own experience in student and personnel life, which was decidedly motivating the new comers. White coats were presented to the new students by Dr. Arja and Dr. Roy C. Heerenveen. Awards of excellence for the existing batch of students were given by the respective course Professors, which also motivated the new students.
