A new book by Kylie Dunn to help authors take control of their publishing needs

HOBART, Australia - May 28, 2016 - PRLog -- Kylie Dunn's latest release is a how-to self-publishing book. Technology allows almost anyone to self-publish a book, but it's not simple or intuitive. Ms Dunn has written the guide book she wished she had when she first self-published in 2013; a book that outlines all of the steps to successfully publish your own book.

"Many people have write a book on their bucket list," Dunn explains. "And while many of them want to be traditionally published, most people use the difficulty of getting a contract as an excuse that stops them from writing at all. Very few people successfully acquire publishing contracts, but that doesn't have to stop people becoming published authors any longer − now that we have a thriving self-publishing industry."

Write to Launch: A Step-by-Step Guide to Self-Publishing outlines the five stages of self-publishing − Writing, Preparation, Making the book, Pre-launch and Getting it out there. It covers many of the administrative and legal requirements that Dunn found lacking in the material she consumed on the topic, as well as pages on marketing options and how to craft a marketing strategy.

Readers also have access to templates, checklists and other resources, to make it even easier.

"There are so many people who don't even know that you can DIY publish now," Dunn says. "People still think that self-publishing means printing 1,000+ copies of your book, and distributing them yourself, but there are so many other options available. Options that do not include paying expensive vanity publishers, or similar services."

Importantly, Write to Launch also includes some frank and honest advice about the difficulties of self-publishing. Advice around the emotional toll of putting your creation out into the world; the writer's doubt of whether it's good enough; and steps to ensure you've put a 'good enough' book into the world.

"Like every other writer I know, I struggle with accepting that my books will never be perfect, and letting them go anyway," Dunn laughs. "I still have moments of wanting to take my last book, Do Share Inspire, out of bookshops - probably because it's so personal. I wanted to include this in the book, to let people know they're not alone when the 'it's crap' or 'no one will buy it' doubts hit. There are things you can do to limit the impact of these doubts, and it's important to plan ahead for those moments."

Write to Launch: A Step-by-Step Guide to Self-Publishing is now widely available through Amazon and other online bookstores. Or you can order it through your local bookshop, a novel idea to help keep those wonderful institutions going. It is also available in Kindle format from Amazon.
