Santa Clara Ballet Presents Spring Dance & Art Showcase June 5

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - May 28, 2016 - PRLog -- Artistic Director, Josefa Villanueva-Reyes and the Santa Clara Ballet Company is pleased to announce its Spring Dance & Art Showcase at the Mission City Center for the Performing Arts in Santa Clara on Sunday, June 5, 2016 from 1:00-4:00pm.

The event will open at 1:00pm with an Art Exhibition by Sunflower Academy of Art highlighting the works by pre-professional artists.  Classical and Contemporary Performances will follow featuring returning Guest Artists, Rowan Allegra, currently with Texas Ballet Theatre, Marcos Vedovetto of San Francisco Opera Ballet and Sharon Kung of Dance Theatre of San Francisco as well as selections from The DanceWright Project, and other invited companies.

The Santa Clara Ballet will present the students of the ballet school and the company.  New this year is the Character Dance featuring Barre and Etudes representing the Russian, Hungarian, Italian, Spanish and Gypsy styles choreographed by Mikhail Guz.  From the classical ballet repertoire the Company will perform the Pas de Trois from Act I in Swan Lake and an arrangement from the Village Scene from Giselle choreographed by Josefa Villaneuva-Reyes including the famous Peasant Pas de Deux from Act I featuring Principal Dancer, Mikhail Guz, Demi-soloists, Kayla Kane Vaskelis and Catherine Klicek as well as Guest Artists, Janice Gonzalez and Marcos Vedovetto.
