BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - May 25, 2016 - PRLog -- Attention Health Care & Fitness Professionals - Sharon Claye, President and Owner of Fall Prevention Training Services, LLC., is bringing a FUN and exciting new program to Birmingham to help older adults avoid falls and increase confidence and independence.

On June 3 at the Holiday Inn Express, Pelham, Claye, a certified Master Trainer in this program, will be teaching a course for Occupational and Physical Therapists, as well as fitness instructors, independent personal trainers, other health care professionals, and anyone interested in helping older adults to avoid falling by improving balance and strength.

"Every 13 seconds, an older adult is treated in the emergency room for a fall," says Claye. "These accidents can be dramatically reduced through learning this set of easy, yet effective, activities. Older adults need no longer live in fear of falling."

Developed by Dr. Betty Perkins-Carpenter, founder and President of Senior Fitness Inc., Six-Step Balance Systemâ„¢ offers a multitude of activities designed to reduce the probability of falls, fear of falling and fall-related injuries by increasing body flexibility, leg strength, overall endurance and especially increase the older adults' confidence and ability to navigate their environment.

"We love this Six-Step Balance System because it offers enjoyable activities rather than "have-to" exercises which will make it fun for our older adults," said Grace Carswell, MA, O.T.R, Owner of Better Body Gym and Training Center, Louisville, KY.

"We are excited that a good number of state boards and professional associations have approved this course for eight Continuing Education Units (CEUs)," said Claye.

Completion of the eight-hour training also qualifies the student for Continuing Education Credits (CECs) for several major personal trainer certifications.
