CAMARILLO, Calif. - May 24, 2016 - PRLog -- The sixth annual Ventura County Agricultural Day Golf Tournament will be on Monday, June 27 at the Spanish Hills Country Club in Camarillo. Money raised by the tournament helps support Students for Eco-Education and Agriculture's (SEEAG) 100% cost-free agricultural education programs for kids and community members in Ventura and Los Angeles counties. This is SEEAG's second year as the beneficiary of the tournament.

Last year, more than 4,200 school children went on SEEAG-sponsored farm field trips and experienced in-class SEEAG presentations-all at no cost. The golf tournament is a show of support and appreciation for the agricultural community and agricultural education. "For many children, a SEEAG field trip to a farm is the first time they've seen where the food they eat comes from," says Mary Maranville, SEEAG Executive Director. "It's an impactful and inspiring learning experience, and our students leave with a deep-seated appreciation for the workforce that helps bring food to their tables."

Bank of the Sierra is a major sponsor of the event this year. The bank, which operates with the brand promise, "We help make every community that we're in better," has a long-standing commitment to community initiatives, especially those that incorporate agriculture and education opportunities for children.

The golf tournament cost is $200 per person ($850 for a foursome and a company logo/sign at one of the greens) and includes green fees and cart, continental breakfast, lunch, pin-up golf games and awards dinner. In addition to tasty snacks and drinks at different holes, farm-to-table signature cocktails will be prepared and served throughout the day by Ventura Spirits Company. A live auction is part of the dinner festivities. Check-in is at 8:00 a.m. with a 10:00 a.m. shotgun tournament tee time. Dinner is at 5:00 p.m.

About SEEAG

Founded in 2008, Students for Eco-Education and Agriculture (SEEAG) aims to help young students understand the origins of their food by bridging the gap between agriculture and consumption through its agricultural education programming. SEEAG's "Farm to Table - The Journey of Our Food From Field to Fork" program based in Ventura County teaches school children about the origins of their food and the importance of local farmland by providing schools with classroom agricultural education and free field trips to farms. Through this program, over 12,000 elementary school students in Southern California have increased their understanding of the food journey. For more information, visit www.seeag.org or email Mary Maranville at mary@seeag.org.
