-- The American Council on Science and Health has named Dr. Josh Bloom as Senior Director of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences. In his new role he will be responsible for taking the science lead in pursuing their mission to be trusted guides for the public on complex science and health issues.
The American Council on Science and Health has existed since 1978 and is a 501c3 tax-exempt nonprofit organization devoted to science and health education, and Dr. Bloom has spent five years distinguishing science fact from activist fiction.
"Leadership is action, not position, and Dr. Bloom has consistently acted as a national leader in promoting sound science for the public, so it's time his title reflects his work. Whether it's testifying before the federal government, giving talks to other scientists, or writing articles and our peer-reviewed books, Josh tackles it with enthusiasm - and often a great deal of humor," said Council President Hank Campbell. "As we continue to grow and become the pro-science group large enough to combat misinformation by anti-science juggernauts such as Natural Resources Defense Council and Greenpeace, it's vital we have a strong team in place. We're going to continue to add scientists so that with a fraction of the billion dollars a year spent by activists opposed to evidence-based decision-making, we can be give the public a way to know the difference between health scares and health threats, and Dr. Bloom's guidance will be a vital part of that."
