CHARLESTON, S.C. - May 19, 2016 - PRLog -- Just a few weeks left of school in South Carolina, and students and teachers are both counting down the days until summer break. For teachers, summer break is a time to schedule yearly appointments and take care of personal affairs, including infertility. The good news is that teachers in SC are not alone when it comes to infertility costs. States The Fertility Center of Charleston's Dr. Stephanie Singleton, "South Carolina teachers (and all state employees) typically have Blue Cross Blue Shield State Employee Plan, which is a tremendous advantage. This particular plan typically covers 70% of infertility costs. We want to make sure teachers know that they have access to this type of coverage."

There are steps for teachers to take to start the fertility process during the summer months.

ABC's of Infertility for Teachers

1. Schedule an initial consult-

All teachers will receive FREE consults in June at The Fertility Center of Charleston (FCOC). Teachers meet directly with Dr. Singleton. After the consult, they will leave with a greater understanding of their infertility, the evaluations that are necessary to create a plan and the options for treatment.

2. Meet with FCOC Financial Counselor

FCOC has a dedicated financial counselor that will help answer insurance questions and discuss financing options. For example, a standard IVF cycle for BC/BS State Employee Plan will only cost around $4,000, not including medications.

3. Begin treatments during summer break

"This gives teachers time to get started, and have a plan in place before the 2016 bell rings," says Dr. Singleton.
