Share to Care: National Foster Care Awareness Day

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - May 18, 2016 - PRLog -- Clarksville, TN. - May 14, 2016, Sometimes, it's not that you don't care, but you are not sure how to use your concern to help. And with Clarksville Community Partners, comprised of the Tennessee Department of Children's Services, Omni Vision, Leap Organization, Youth Villages, Health Connect America, Oak Plains, Foster Care Association, Regional Intervention Program, Camelot, Cumberland Hall, Autism Awareness Association, Mental Health Co-op, and Oak Plains Academy, over 100 concerned citizens came out to the recent National Foster Care Awareness event to learn how to care for Montgomery County's 250 children in need of foster families. The program, which took place, Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Leap Organization's Plaza on Wilma Rudolph, featured a day packed with foster care success stories, food, games, activities, entertainment, door prizes, educational materials, inflatables, emergency responders and a Clarksville firetruck.

Judge Tim Barnes served as this year's guest speaker who championed the volunteers, guests, and family who dared to care by recognizing the work of foster families, social workers, and faith-based and community organizations in efforts to serve some 250+ children in need of foster families in the Montgomery County community.

Each year, Clarksville Community Partners participate in a national emphasis on foster care, highlighting and supporting its importance and the need for families to embrace youth in the foster care system, helping them to reunite with their own identity, connect with their families and their culture.
