HOUSTON - May 16, 2016 - PRLog -- Jayda Ellis, a 17 year old fashion designer and seamstress of JaEll Designs, designed and made her own African inspired prom dress. Jayda is a graduating senior at Wunsche High School in Spring, Texas. After making her own dress for Homecoming, she decided she wanted a unique design for prom that represented her African-American heritage. So, she began working on the creation right away.

The gown is a full-length, form-fitting design accented with an African inspired beaded neckline and feathered fishtail.

Miss Ellis began sketching designs at the age of 7 years old. Shortly thereafter, she would cut up her older sister's clothes to make her designs for her dolls. Inspired by her late aunt's love of sewing, Jayda's interest in fashion grew and she asked for her own sewing machine. She started taking sewing lessons and is currently an intern and mentee of her sewing instructor, Donna Black.

Jayda has also makes custom formal and casual apparel for her clients. She is in the process of launching an African inspired summer clothing line. The line will debut on May 29, in the High School Holla Fashion Show.

Jayda will be attending Clark Atlanta University in the fall, majoring in Fashion Design.
