Billboard Chart Topper to Pause Music Career in Pursuit of Civic Service

WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. - May 16, 2016 - PRLog -- Detroit,Michigan,  Recent number one Billboard artist Justin Tranchita, inspired by his work with Ben Carson's campaign, has decided to pursue his political aspirations and run for an open seat in the Michigan House of Representatives during this red hot election cycle.

Tranchita is coming off an amazing year that saw his hit song, 'This is America,' climb to number one on the Billboard charts two different times, in November 2015 and again in 2016. The songs ascension is due in part to Ben Carson. The former presidential candidate used 'This is America' as his campaign theme, and Carson also had Tranchita​ perform on his wife's Christmas Album, 'A Very Candy Christmas,' alongside artists such as Ricky Skaggs, Tony Orlando, TheCrabb family and many more. Carson's motto, 'Heal Inspire Revive,' is right in line with Tranchita's vision for the citizens of Michigan.

"Ben inspired me to stand up for my fellow citizens and be a conduit for their voices, carrying their hopes, dreams and concerns to Lansing and making changes to the law that will directly and positively impact their lives back home in our district," Tranchita said.

Tranchita is no stranger to the public eye. He has spent time on the Discovery Channel television series, 'Game of Pawns,' and followed his music career for two decades, but always claims his heart lies with those among us who are less fortunate.

"When I was just a boy I remember my father and I going to Chicago to help the homeless and feed the needy, and from that moment on I knew I wanted to serve my fellow man," Tranchita said. "The longing inside me to make a difference has taken me all over the country and around the world. I really believe I can help the people of my district through this natural progression into a life of civil service. It is something that I have wanted for a very long time and I am now ready to serve."

Tranchita said he is putting his music career on pause while he runs for Michigan House District 32, but it will still be a huge part of his life. "I have been writing songs and telling stories since I was a little boy. I achieved my dream of getting a number one Billboard hit and I have been able to perform in front of so many people over the years. I look forward to extending my musical career in the future, but for now it is time for me to serve others and I am completely committed to doing so."
